We are a non-profit group dedicated to maintaining an extensive, top quality snowmobile trail system in the Seeley-Swan Valley & Garnet. We have 430 miles of groomed trails, countless miles of secondary trails, and great areas for off trail riding. We invite you to snowmobile Seeley Lake and see breath-taking scenery, play in the powder, and enjoy some good old Montana hospitality.

Seeley Lake is located in the Clearwater Valley between the Mission and Swan Mountain Ranges.

Riding is available right from town or you can choose to trailer to one of our trailheads.

Our beautiful Montana location is a great place to bring your family or the "just the guys" group. We have a wide range of dining and lodging options to choose from. Bring your own snowmobile or rent one locally. Either way, you can be sure a fun filled adventure is waiting for you!

History

This is where it all started! The Driftriders were formed in 1967 and have been working to maintain access to one of the most spectacular areas in the state for everyone!

Don't think that the Driftriders have ceased to exist because of Scenic Montana Trails--nothing could be further from the truth. We are excited to usher in a new era for mechanized sport in our area and we're excited to see our group grow with other user communities!

Our trails are open to all from December 1 - May 1 (snow-permitting). Skiers, snow-shoers, dog-sledders, fat-tire bikers, e-bikers, you're all welcome. ATV/UTVs with or without tracks are not allowed on trails during the winter(Dec1-May1).

Winter Trail Info

We have 430 miles of groomed trails, countless miles of secondary trails, and great areas for off trail riding. We keep these trails groomed with Three Piston Bully groomers using a mixture of pull behind drags (mogul masters) or a tiller.  Each  Groomer is equipped with a spot GPS tracking device, check out he links below to follow where the groomers have been.  Please consider supporting the grooming efforts by joining the club or offering a donation.

Stop in at local businesses in Seeley Lake to pick up a Trail map or Download it on Avenza maps or Trail Trekker.

Grooming

Ever wonder how all this equipment is purchased, maintained and run?

Glad you asked!

It's because of a dedicated group of volunteers that take time out of their busy lives to make it all happen. We apply for grants, administer the grants, track every penny, and file for reimbursements (in most cases, we have to spend the money upfront and then request funding!) The grants are used to purchase fuel (ouch!), parts, insurance and pay for operators to run them.

Maintaining and operating the groomers is yet another major task the group takes on. Every summer we do major maintenance on each machine, change all the oils, filters, check the tracks, and replace or repair broken or worn parts. For machines that cost nearly $500,000 you can imagine how much parts for these cost.

So if you see a request for help or additional volunteers to come help do maintenance, don't think you can't do it. We have tasks for every skill level and another pair of hands is never turned away!
